MAISHA SPA...the wow factor

peeping into the Kampala Serena Hotel - Maisha Spa
Why just peep into? why not go ahead and enjoy life?

Reason being my main mission was to watch the Miss uganda finals held there on 7/8/2008 and besides, that could cost you a leg ...bugdet my friend! bugdet

However i witnessed stunning spa facilities beyond wow factors. steam baths, saunas and ice cool plunge pools and relaxation areas; a mixed race couple enjoying a luxurious treat, an ultra modern fully equipped gym and aerobics studio (this i think would best work for me...am a fitness freak) , and a beautifully landscaped free form swimming pool.

I Promised myself Arnold Schwarzenegger style..i will be back

Miss UGANDA

Victor Nnabagereka, first runner up, Mwiima (centre) and Medina Agenorwot, 2nd runner up

Dorah Mwiima is miss Uganda
18-year-old Dorah Mwiima, a student from Tororo district, beat 17 other contestants last Saturday and was crowned Miss Uganda 2008/9 at Serena Hotel. SHE was not among the crowd’s favorite.
Victor Nnabagereka, first runner up would have been just spot on according to me

the dark skin, slimy beauty queen takes over from Monica Kansiime Kasyate who I have never seen on the social scene for months.

The event was sponsored by Uganda telecom, Air Uganda and Club Beer, had a Two sets of twins (history of sorts for the contest) Jacline Nyakato and Jocelyn Nyangoma, both 18 and 21-year-old pair of Caroline Nyakato and Joseline Nyangoma
All vying for the crown.

Miss Uganda is an event viewed by moralists as just a channel used to exploit girls by displaying their bodies. Huh!

local artistes like sexy Desire Luzinda, Bebe Cool, Mowzey Radio and Weasel with the controversial hit single Zuena performed. The emcee of the event is UK based Jackie Matovu who is currently Miss Uganda UK and Miss Commonwealth 2004 was stunning.

Despite the glamour and whose is who the show didn’t match to the event of the billing we where used to these days. Remember Sylvia Awori era?

real charity or scam?..

I have received this through my email countless times that i would like to share with you.

is it real or just another scam?

can some one from Barclays or AMREF explain this !!!!!!!

read this:
Katine, a village district in rural north-east Uganda, is the site of a three-year project to improve the lives of its 25,000 inhabitants

where is this place in Uganda?

here is the rest of the mail:

Dear Subscriber,

Help us to improve the lives of the 25,000 people of Katine sub-county in rural Uganda, where the Guardian is tracking Amref's three-year development project. Make a donation and Barclays will make a matching contribution. Over 5,500 readers have already done so, and joined the biggest development journalism initiative in the Guardian's history.

Thanks to the help of Guardian readers, real change is happening. 1,308 mosquito nets have been distributed to homes to combat the lethal spread of malaria, eight new boreholes have been drilled and five have been repaired, five schools have been fitted with 10,000 litre rainwater tanks, nine now have hygienic toilet blocks, and over 200 farmers have received training to reduce annual food shortages.
But there is still so much more to do. In Katine, 44% of families still don't have access to safe drinking water, while over 400 farmers need extra training. Katine's primary schools still need 12 more teachers, 43 more classrooms, 1,437 new desks, 2,000 more textbooks and 112 hygienic toilet blocks to meet national standards. These are serious challenges that can be overcome with your help. Check out Saturday's Guardian for more on Katine.
